What CecurSign is

What the product does, the words it uses, and what a signature from it is worth.

Last updated

CecurSign sends documents out for signature and gives you back a signed PDF, a certificate saying who signed it and when, and a record anyone can check. You upload a file, mark the places people need to sign, name the people, and press send. They sign in a browser, with no account and no software to install.

The words we use

Envelope. The document you sent for signature, together with everyone who has to act on it and everything that has happened to it. One envelope can hold several files. When people talk about "the contract you sent me", the envelope is the thing you look up in CecurSign to answer them.

Recipient. A person on an envelope. Some sign, some only need to read it, some only need a copy when it is done.

Field. A box you place on the page: where a signature goes, where a date goes, where someone types their job title. A recipient only sees the fields you assigned to them.

Document. A file in your library. The same document can be used in several envelopes, and in templates, without being uploaded again.

Template. A document with the fields already placed and the roles already named, so a letter you send every week takes a minute instead of ten.

Where things live

The menu down the left is the whole product. Home is your overview. Signing holds Envelopes, Templates and Documents, and Bulk send where your plan includes it. Self sign is a row of its own, for a document nobody else is involved in. Clients is your contact book. Settings covers you, your company and your team.

Two more rows appear where your company has them. Proposals quotes for a piece of work and gets the engagement letter signed when the client accepts it. Bookings publishes a link showing the times you are free, so a client can put a meeting in your diary without an exchange of emails.

What a signature from CecurSign is

CecurSign produces a simple electronic signature. That is the ordinary, accepted form for the great majority of business documents: engagement letters, contracts of employment, standard terms, fee proposals.

What makes it defensible is the evidence around it rather than anything hidden inside the PDF. Every action on an envelope is recorded in an audit trail that cannot be edited afterwards. Every completed document gets a certificate of completion naming who signed, when, and from what address. Anyone, including someone with no CecurSign account, can check a finished document against our public verification page.

We do not offer qualified electronic signatures, and we do not issue a personal certificate to each signer. If a document you are sending has a special formality requirement, wills and certain deeds among them, take your own advice on it first.

Where to go next

If you have just been given an account, read Send your first document for signature. It walks the whole path once, with every button named.
