What your recipients see

The page that opens from the link, so you can talk a client through it on the phone.

Last updated

Your recipient clicks the link in the email and lands on a single page holding every document in the envelope, with each place they need to fill marked on the page. An envelope is the bundle you sent: the documents, the people and the fields. There is nothing to install, no account to create and no password to remember. It works in an ordinary browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer.

If you asked for an access code first

Where you set an access code for that person, the document does not appear yet. They see Authentication Required, a note saying which company sent it, and an Access Code box. They type the code you gave them and press Continue.

Five wrong attempts locks that link for fifteen minutes and the page tells them when to try again. See Access codes for how to set one and how to hand it over.

The bar across the top

The subject you wrote is the heading, with From and your company name beneath it. To the right is a running count of how many fields they have filled, and three controls:

  • Start jumps them to the first thing they have not done yet, and moves them on each time they press it.
  • Decline opens a short form if they do not want to sign. See Declining.
  • Finish stays out of reach until every required field is complete.

The document itself

The pages scroll continuously, in the order you arranged them. Every field assigned to that person is drawn on top of the page, and the one they are being asked for next carries a yellow marker saying what it wants: SIGN, INITIAL, DATE, TEXT, CHECK, PICK or SELECT. That is what makes a long document navigable, because the marker moves down it as they work. Fields you marked optional say so. Fields belonging to another signer are not shown to them at all.

Tapping a signature field opens the signature panel; tapping a text or date field opens a small sheet with Cancel and Save. Anything they enter can be changed again until they finish.

There is also a side panel, Documents, listing each file with its page count and progress, and every field underneath it. It is the fastest way to find a field that is hiding in a corner of a page, and on a phone it is behind the menu button.

Finishing

Finish opens a panel headed Complete Signing. It asks them to review their entries, shows the consent statement, and requires them to tick the box before the button becomes available. The final button is Agree & Sign.

If a required field is still empty, the panel says which field, on which document, on which page.

Afterwards

They land on a confirmation page headed Your signature is recorded, which then tracks the rest of the envelope: how many signers have finished, and whether the signed copy and its certificate are ready. Once everyone has signed, Download signed document appears there, and the signed copy is emailed to everyone set to receive one.

People who only need a copy

Anyone you added as a viewer or in copy sees the same page with a View only badge and a line telling them there is nothing for them to sign.

What we record

A line at the foot of every signing page tells the signer, in plain words, that CecurSign records their name, email address, IP address, browser and the time of each action, with a link to how we handle that information. That record is what makes the certificate of completion worth having.
